Winter Doggie Dangers!
With winter on it's way and Christmas just around the corner - lets have a look at some of the dangers that might be about for your pet! Some of these will be well known, and some others perhaps not! Aside from the obvious challenges of ice on the paths, and the cold temp, there are lots of other things that can present danger to our dogs.
Chocolate and Raisins are more prevalent as we go into the festive season so please keep an eye on what your dog is eating. Chocolate is toxic based on weight ratio - so a smaller dog can eat much less. It also depends on the cocoa content, dark chocolate is much more poisonous than milk. This is a really useful website if you are unsure but please do always contact your vet to be on the safe side - https://www.vets-now.com/dog-chocolate-toxicity-calculator/
Grapes/Raisins found in mince pies and Christmas pudding are highly toxic to dogs - even 1 and they might need a vet trip! This isn't based on size either, some dogs can eat lots and be fine, others only 1 can be an issue!
